What is Rostrum?

• Rostrum provides a relaxed environment in which to begin to learn and practice public speaking, meeting procedure and the skills required to participate in a meeting.
  
• Rostrum is a great place to meet friendly people, increase your own confidence and abilities, in a non-threatening and supportive atmosphere.

The Aim

The Aim of Rostrum is to provide a relaxed environment in which to learn the art of public speaking, meeting procedure and the skills required to participate in a meeting.

The Objects of Rostrum

Rostrum is for men and women who desire to advance themselves in the mastery of the art of effective speaking. Freedom of speech, loyalty to truth, clarity of thought, and a love of the English language are vital elements of that art, and are of utmost value to the community. Rostrum aims at creating a loyalty that will enrich the fellowship of its members. Rostrum holds to an educational ideal and teaches the skills required to participate in a meeting and practise chairmanship.

The Promise

"I promise to submit myself to the discipline of this Rostrum Club and to endeavour to advance its ideals and enrich its fellowship. I will defend freedom of speech in the community and will try at all times to think truly and to speak clearly. I promise not to be silent when I ought to speak."
