General Information
The Rostrum Voice of Youth competition within the State is controlled by a State Co-ordinator. To assist in the organisation of the competition, Queensland has been divided into a number of regions; within each region, the competition is managed by one or more people as listed on the Regional Contacts page.
Participants progress through a series of Area heats and Regional finals to the Queensland State final, the winner representing Queensland in the National final.There are two age-defined divisions - Junior and Senior. The Junior division is for those who are at least 11 years of age and under 15 years at 1st January in the competition year. The Senior division is for those who are under 18 years at 1st January in the competition year.

Each of the Junior and Senior finalists in the State and National championships will be flown to the competition city to participate and will enjoy an expenses paid weekend.
The winner and runner up in both the Junior and Senior age divisions of the State final receive cash prizes, as well as the personal trophies awarded to all finalists. The State Junior winner receives $350 cash and the State Senior winner $450. The runner up in each age division receives $150. All State finalists also receive a pen and pencil set donated by The Courier-Mail. The school of each of the winners retains a perpetual trophy for twelve months.
At the National level, the winners and runners-up receive cash prizes and personal trophies.
Certificates of Participation are presented to every competitor at each level of the RVOY competition. Regional winners also receive trophies and/or prize money.
The co-operation of secondary schools is vital to the success of this competition. Each secondary school appoints a teacher as a school co-ordinator who receives all necessary correspondence from the RVOY Regional Co-ordinator. Communication with schools and their students, wherever possible, is managed by email to the school co-ordinators.
